Firefighters rescue kitten trapped in a drainage pipe after three days in Cary, USA

On October 22, 2026, in Cary, North Carolina, USA, @kristenlittle34 shared a video documenting the rescue of a tiny black kitten named Piper who had been trapped inside a drainage pipe for approximately three days. In the video, the author checks the drainage pipe and can hear the kitten's cries. Moments later, firefighters arrive and begin working to rescue the kitten. The firefighter who enters the drainage system struggles to get the kitten out, prompting the rescue team to try different methods. They place objects to block the drainage while water continues flowing to help push the kitten toward the exit. Moments later, when they remove the cover, the flowing water carries the kitten outward, and as the firefighter comes out of the drainage, the author picks up the kitten. According to the author, initial attempts to coax Piper out were unsuccessful, and the Town of Cary Fire Department spent approximately three hours trying different methods before successfully rescuing her. Piper is now safe in the care of Facilitate Rescue, Inc., while the author and his wife foster her during her recovery. The author also expressed deep gratitude to the firefighters for their extraordinary efforts to save the kitten.
