How VBear verifies, acquires and licenses UGC
Every clip in the library has a signed licence from the person who filmed it, a camera-original file and a verification record. This page explains what that means for your legal and standards teams.
How VBear verifies UGC
Every clip passes a manual check by the VBear verification desk before it appears in the library. Editors review the file, the context and the person who filmed it.
Rights acquisition
Creators sign a licence agreement with VBear that grants either exclusive or non-exclusive rights. The agreement is stored against the clip and referenced in every licence we issue.
Creator verification
We confirm that the person licensing the clip is the person who filmed it. Creator details stay confidential and are never shared with buyers without consent.
Copyright ownership
Copyright remains with the creator. VBear holds the right to license the clip on their behalf, under the terms of the signed agreement.
Editorial licensing
Editorial licences cover news, current affairs and documentary use across broadcast, web and social. Enterprise agreements set territory and media once, so editors can download without contacting us.
Commercial licensing
Commercial use (advertising, branded content, promotion) needs extra clearance. Clips marked Commercial Ready already have the releases required.
Model releases
Where identifiable people appear and commercial use is requested, we obtain signed model releases. Release status is shown on every clip page.
Property releases
Property releases are collected for identifiable private property and trademarks where commercial use requires them.
AI-generated content policy
VBear does not accept AI-generated or AI-altered footage. Submissions are screened for synthetic artefacts and checked against the camera-original file.
Manipulated media policy
Clips are accepted only if they reflect what was filmed. Basic trims are allowed; edits that change meaning, composites and misleading captions are rejected.
Content authenticity
We keep the original file, its metadata and a hash on record for every clip, so authenticity can be demonstrated if it is ever challenged.
Copyright claims
If you believe a clip infringes your rights, contact our legal team with the VBear ID. We acknowledge claims within 24 hours and suspend licensing while we investigate.
