On October 3, 2026, in Asunción, Paraguay, @iaconrafa shared a video showing a severe thunderstorm over the capital. In the video, a jagged cloud-to-ground lightning bolt cuts through the purple night sky as repeated flashes illuminate the storm clouds amid strong winds and heavy rain. According to reports, the storm brought torrential rain, frequent lightning and wind gusts approaching 100 km/h (62 mph). Exceptionally large hailstones, some measuring 6 to 12 centimeters (2.5 to 4.7 inches) across, damaged vehicles and roofs, while intense rainfall caused flooding on major roads. Strong winds and lightning also damaged power lines, leaving parts of Asunción and nearby municipalities without electricity.
