On October 20, 2026, in Santiago, Chile, @ggonzalezh_cl shared a video of a powerful lightning storm illuminating the city skyline. In the video, massive purplish-white lightning bolts flash across the dark, cloud-filled sky, silhouetting the jagged peaks of the Andes mountain range behind the city. Below, city lights stretch across the valley, creating a striking contrast with the storm overhead. The scene is recorded through a protective balcony mesh. According to reports, a strong frontal weather system brought thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, lightning, and localized hail to the Santiago metropolitan area. Intense precipitation prompted weather alerts amid concerns over flooding and possible mudslides in vulnerable areas.
