On October 28, 2026, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, USA, @wgay shared a video showing rough surf and coastal erosion during high tide. In the video, turbulent waves crash against the shoreline beneath heavy, overcast skies, sending white foam over large, wet rocks and reaching the area beneath a wooden coastal staircase and elevated pavilion. The rough sea stretches toward a hazy horizon beneath a blanket of low, dark storm clouds. According to the author, surf reached 8–10 feet as King Tides coincided with high tide, causing three of the five bottom steps of a public beach walkover staircase to be destroyed. The author warned that the remaining stairs could also be lost. According to reports, King Tides and powerful surf have washed away sand along New Smyrna Beach, exposing seawalls and leaving parts of the coastline vulnerable to wave impacts.
