Famous shark Bukangi returns to Busan canal hours after rescue in South Korea

Occurred: October 22, 2026 | Location: Busan, South Korea | Category: News

On October 22, 2026, in Busan, South Korea, @METALice32109 shared a video showing Bukangi, a 3-meter-long female dusky shark, swimming inside a netted barrier near the entrance to the artificial canal at North Port. In the video, recorded around 10:30 a.m., just hours after officials had guided the shark toward open water the previous evening. Bukangi had slipped back through the outer barrier overnight and returned to the canal. According to reports, Bukangi first entered the canal on September 18 and attracted more than 1.6 million visitors during her month-long stay. Authorities launched several rescue attempts involving divers, drones, and floating barriers, but earlier efforts were complicated by high tides and tangled nets. After her return on October 22, experts assessed her condition as stable. Officials temporarily lowered the outer barrier to allow her to move freely and potentially find her own way back to the sea.
