Kīlauea volcano erupts with massive lava fountains and towering ash plume in Hawaii, USA

On November 5, 2026, in Hawaii, USA, @drainsurgeonpro shared a video of a volcanic eruption coinciding with Episode 56 of Kīlauea's ongoing summit eruption. In the video, a volcanic fissure aggressively spews bright, molten-orange lava, creating a glowing river of magma across the barren landscape beneath a darkening, overcast twilight sky. A massive white and orange-tinted volcanic plume billows upward above the erupting vent. According to reports, the U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory confirmed that Episode 56 began at 12:10 PM HST on November 5, 2026, and ended at approximately 6:01 PM HST that evening. The nearly six-hour eruption sent lava fountains reaching heights of up to 660 feet (200 meters) from vents inside Halemaʻumaʻu crater in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The resulting eruption plume rose approximately 18,000 feet (5,500 meters) above sea level. Kīlauea remained under a WATCH/ORANGE alert level, while trade winds carried light volcanic ash and gases southwest toward the Kaʻū District, prompting special weather statements for nearby communities. All lava flows remained contained within the national park.
